Supporters of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo are returning to court to continue their effort to end a primary challenge from law professor Zephyr Teachout.
Two Cuomo campaign interns have challenged Teachout's eligibility to run, saying she doesn't meet the five-year residency requirement. They say she "retroactively" changed her residency from Vermont to New York when she decided to run for office this year.
The matter heads to appellate court in Brooklyn on Tuesday, a week after a lower-court judge ruled in favor of Teachout.
Teachout says she has resided in New York since taking a job as a law professor at Fordham University in 2009. She says Cuomo's campaign is mounting a "frivolous" challenge to avoid political opposition.
A decision in the appeal is expected later this week.
