Congresswoman Louise Slaughter announced on Tuesday that the Greater Rochester International Airport has been rewarded a $1.4 million federal grant from the Department of Transportation.

Congresswoman Slaughter says the $1,434,567 from the DOT is funding to add 850 feet of runway to Taxiway E.

“Expanding our airport’s capacity has always been a priority of mine, and I’m glad to have secured over $27 million for improvements since 2005,” Rep. Slaughter said. “I will continue to support investments in transportation infrastructure and the jobs that come with those projects.”

Representative Slaughter has secured about $27 million in airport improvements, including about $2.77 million in taxiway rehabilitation, runway safety and a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting vehicle.
