When flooding rains hit the village of Penn Yan just three months ago, tens of thousands of dollars in toys meant to go to children in need this holiday season were lost.

Now, thanks to the efforts of the Pirate Toy Fund and you, there will be toys bringing smiles to kids’ faces this December.

Video of the devastation back in May made Gary the Happy Pirate want to do something to help the ”Christmas for the Needy” organization. “I know that they were desperate when we met them. They didn't know what they were going to do, how they were going to replace it or how they were going to raise the funds.”

The organization, based in Penn Yan, gives toys to more than 1,000 children around Yates County during the holidays.

Floodwaters ruined many of the toys stored away but thanks to help from people like you, 1,000 toys made their way from Rochester to Penn Yan today.

Gary the Happy Pirate said, “It was amazing how giving the community was and how they answered the call you guys put out there and they followed through on what they said they were going to do.”

Now the toys will be wrapped for children to open this holiday season.
