We're told one man was taken to the hospital this afternoon after fire broke out at a home on Cayuga Street.

The deputy fire chief said when firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke could be seen coming from the first floor of the home.

We’re told one man was inside the home when the fire started and that he was able to make it out on his own. Firefighters say he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for significant injuries.

“He got out by himself. The truck company found him next door at the neighbor’s house so they start administering first aid to him right away,” said Deputy Fire Chief George Peterson Jr.

Firefighters say it took less than ten minutes to get the fire under control.
