Fire officials said a firefighter was injured while battling an apartment fire in the Village Gate.
Crews were called to the scene at the Village Gate Square on North Goodman Street near Anderson Avenue around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Upon arrival, they found a third floor apartment full involved above commercial space. News10NBC is told a second alarm was called for the fire. Fire officials said it took crews about 40 minutes to get the blaze under control.
News10NBC is told one firefighter suffered a "very minor" injury to a limb and is expected to recover.
The Red Cross says one person was assisted following the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. However, we spoke with the property owner Gary Stern Sunday morning. He says the suspected cause of the fire is an electrical issue. He also tells us water damage to Salena's Mexican Restaurant could keep the restaurant closed for a few days.
