Local Italians celebrated their culture at the Abruzzese Festival in Gates on Sunday.

The day-long Italian Festival kicked off with a mass and included music, a spaghetti eating contest, a live performance from Lou Gramm and a fireworks display.

Proceeds from the Abruzzese Festival benefit the Catholic Family Center, the Open Door Mission and Alternatives for Battered Women.

News10NBC’s Amanda Ciavarri was the mistress of ceremonies.
