There is new information about a Brockport fire lieutenant accused in a mail fraud scheme.

Federal investigators say Steven Ray had at least seven bank accounts where he stashed the money. The accounts were opened under the name "Steray of Rochester Incorporated" at Chase, M&T, First Niagara, ESL Federal Credit Union and Brockport Federal Credit Union.

Investigators say he deposited checks into those accounts that were not made out to him. Ray is also accused of depositing an IRS check worth nearly $34,000 that was not made out to him into an account for a deli in Gates he owns. Investigators say Ray claimed the rightful owner of the check gave him permission to do so for a down payment on a property -- a claim she denies.

Ray is accused of stealing nearly $400,000.
