A Seneca County mother is facing charges after deputies say her child wandered off.

Samantha Rousseau is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators say a deputy on routine patrol Monday evening came across a one-year-old child sitting alongside Lodi Covert Town Line Road in Seneca County. We’re told the child was playing outside with some other children and had wandered about 500 feet from the home. Deputies say Rousseau, the child’s mother, was inside their home and not supervising the child.

Rousseau was issued an appearance ticket. She is due in court on September 15.

Child Protective Services was called and the child was not injured.
