The Rochester Americans got a first look at next year’s schedule. Today, the AHL released the 2014-2015 schedule.
Rochester will open up the 59th season at home against the Adirondack Flames on October 10. Eight days later, the Amerks play their first game against Toronto north of the border.
For the third straight year, Rochester will play a game at the First Niagara Center this year against Hamilton. The Thruway rivalry is renewed on Halloween and the Amerks can get revenge against Chicago -- the team that knocked them out of last year’s playoffs on November 15.
Overall, get used to seeing the Amerks on the weekends. Thirty of their 38 scheduled home games will play be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
The Amerks will stay in the north division of the western conference and will play Toronto, Hamilton, Utica and the new kids on the block -- the Flames.
The longest road stretch for the Amerks will be from January 24 to February 11. The Amerks will have their bags packed for 11 games.
One noticeable absence from this year’s schedule -- the Hershey Bears. This will be only the second time in 59 AHL seasons the Amerks and Bears won’t share the ice in the regular season.
