Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is opening up about her struggles on Capitol Hill in her new book which is set to be released in early September.

In an excerpt from the book, Gillibrand recounts a time she was working out in the congressional gym when a male colleague said, "good thing you are working out, because you wouldn't want to get porky." Gillibrand also shares the challenges of being a mother of young children, saying she was once asked to preside over the senate during an hour she had set aside to nurse her infant son.

"Off The Sidelines" is scheduled to be released September 9th.
