The death of a 15-year-old Wyoming County girl leads to criminally negligent homicide charges for two people.
Back in January, Wyoming County sheriff's deputies responded to an ambulance call in the Town of Castile for a 15-year-old girl who had suffered a seizure and was not breathing. The following day, we're told she succumbed to her injuries.
In May, an autopsy was conducted by the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death was determined to be homicide due to medical neglect. We're told the teen was not receiving proper care and medication for an existing condition.
On August 26, the case was brought before a Grand Jury and 35-year-old Jeremy Ikeler and 38-year-old Astrid Ikeler were indicted on charges of criminally negligent homicide.
Both were arraigned in Wyoming County Court and are being held in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. They are due back in court on October 23.
