A Seneca County father who pled guilty in connection with the death of his son is now facing another murder charge.

According to Syracuse.com, Karl Karlsen was charged with murder in California on Friday. He’s now accused of killing his first wife, Christina, back on New Year’s Day in 1991.

Prosecutors say Karlsen intentionally set a fire inside their home in order to collect money for an insurance policy. They say he took the policy out on his wife just weeks before.

Late last year, Karlsen admitted to killing his son, Levi, back in 2008 at their home in Seneca. He was sentenced to 15 years to life behind bars for that crime.
