Two people injured by tree at Letchworth State Park

A man and a woman were both injured by after being hit by a fallen tree at Letchworth State Park on Saturday, according to police.

Officials say 51-year-old Carol Savio and 48-year-old Robert Savio were in the Lower Falls area of the park when they were hit by a falling tree. Carol was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. She is currently listed in guarded condition. Robert was also taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance. His injuries were considered minor, according to police. He has been discharged from the hospital.

Park police say the accident happened in an area closed to the public.
