The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office says a 42-year-old woman is dead following an off-road crash.

Deputies were called to a wooded area off Horton Road in the town of Eagle around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning for a report of a woman down.

The victim, Sherrie Green of Kenmore, was brought to the roadside by friends after being involved in an accident, according to deputies. The friends told deputies she was breathing, but unresponsive. Green was taken by ambulance to Wyoming County Community Hospital where she later died.

Investigators say Green was part of a group of friends who were off-road "mudding" on private property when one of the three Jeeps involved got stuck in deep mud. Deputies believe Green was accidentally hit by one of the Jeeps while helping to free the stuck vehicle.

Right now, deputies do not suspect any foul play and say no charges are pending.
