What types of TV shows are linked to snacking more?

Eating in front of the TV has been linked to overeating and obesity but a new study finds not all shows are alike.
Researchers had 94 college students watch 20 minutes of an action movie, a talk show, or the action movie with no sound while snacking on candy, cookies and fruit.  Those watching the movie ate almost twice as many snacks as those watching the talk show and even people in the silent movie group ate one-third more than the talk show group.
Experts say programs that are fast paced and engaging distract us from what we're eating and suggest pre-portioning TV snacks or only have healthy munchies while watching our favorite shows.
