Elected officials have been speaking out on the passing of Rochester Police Officer Daryl Pierson. Among them is Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy.

On Thursday afternoon, Duffy offered words of advice to the community.

“When you see a Police officer on duty, in their car, having lunch, patrolling, stop and say thank you. Stop and thank them for what they do, because they don’t hear that very much. They often hear the criticism, they often will not hear the good things but they do great things every day,” said Duffy.

Duffy is a former mayor of Rochester, and before that spent seven years as Rochester’s Police Chief. He said all government flags across the state will be at half-staff tomorrow in honor of Officer Pierson.
