The Rochester community has been coming together in the last 24 hours to remember Officer Daryl Pierson, who was shot and killed in the line of duty Wednesday night.

On Thursday, a Webster business held a fundraiser for the family of the fallen officer. Firefighters passed a boot to collect donations for Pierson’s family at Hatter’s Pub on Main Street in Webster. They also observed a moment of silence just before 9:30 p.m. That’s when police say Pierson suffered a deadly gunshot wound.

We’ve also learned that a religious service will be held Friday morning to honor the life of Officer Pierson. Officers and Emergency Responders are expected to attend a mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Brighton. That service at the Catholic Church on Edgewood Avenue is set to begin at 7 a.m.
