Carr passed away in 2015 after a seven-year battle with cancer.

Hot Shots Volleyball Club hosted the event with Spencerport Native and New York Islander Shane Prince.

"Danny and Shane introduced him to me and all of our board members, and ever since then it's just been a snowball effect," says Louie Maier, the event's organizer.

"Everybody is just so supportive of Patrick and the legacy he's left behind."

This is the third year that teams have competed in the hybrid sport for the chance to have their names engraved on the Patrick Carr Memorial "Sandley Cup".
