The results of a special committee's investigation into the University of Rochester's handling of sexual misconduct allegations against a professor will be made public Thursday afternoon.
The committee looked into allegations made in complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The complaints, and a federal lawsuit, were filed by a group of nine former students and faculty members who say the university mishandled allegations against Professor Florian Jaeger, who was cleared of wrongdoing by the university, and then retaliated against those who reported the behavior.
Below is a timeline of the case:
In a letter to the school community in September 2017 after the EEOC complaint was filed, President Joel Seligman said the allegations made by the women in the EEOC complaint were “investigated, appealed and found to be unsubstantiated” and are now “repeated and embellished in the EEOC complaint.”
Seligman went on to say that the assertions remain unproven.
