June 26, 2017 11:42 PM

Former WHEC reporter, anchor and news director Warren Doremus passed away after a short battle with an illness.

Doremus passed away Monday afternoon at the age of 91. He worked at News10NBC for 45 years and was a true legend in Rochester broadcasting. Doremus covered the 1964 riot and led the newsroom in the 70s and 80s.

He was born in Montclair, New Jersey and fought in France during World War II.

Doremus last appeared on WHEC in 2016 to bid farewell to another WHEC legend, Janet Lomax, as she retired (fun fact: Doremus hired Lomax). Just a year before that, WHEC covered Doremus' 90th birthday party in 2015.
