Wind and rain battered the lake shore Wednesday afternoon.
Strong winds, like what residents along Lake Ontario saw Wednesday, can cause problems and result in some damage. The winds out of the north also brings the added threat of the coastal flooding. That is why the National Weather Service issued coastal flood warnings for the area. Now flooding in this area is still fresh in many people's minds after last spring when water spilled over in to many homes along the lake shore.
Marianne Woodams, lake resident: "In the spring it was just, I never seen the water, it was a foot from the top of her yard."
Robert Speta: "Now that you have seen that erosion take place, do you feel your front porch is more vulnerable now every time we see these northern winds come in?"
Woodams: "Yes absolutely. I mean, it can wash the sandbags out just as easily."
