Bills fans react to hiring of Sean McDermott

January 12, 2017 08:35 AM

This afternoon, the Bills announced they hired Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott as their next head coach. Already, the new leader of the Buffalo Bills is getting a warm reception here in Western New York.

Dylan Rothfuss/Rochester Resident: "I know he's coming from Carolina, and I know he likes to run a 4-3 defense, which is very suitable for the Bills so I'm very excited for Sean McDermott as the Bills head coach.”

Warren Kosel/Penfield Resident: "Well given our record, I'm cautiously optimistic because any coach we have usually puts us out of the playoffs. Hopefully McDermott can bring us back into the playoffs."

Well most of the Bills fans we spoke to Wednesday at Blue Cross Arena say that hiring McDermott is certainly a step in the right direction for Buffalo, but there's still a lot of questions and concerns surrounding this Bills team.

The main one it seems? The quarterback situation.

Jerry Santo/Pittsford Resident: “Yes, I don't think the quarterback, who they have is the key right now. I'm hoping that they make some other changes.

Dylan Rothfuss: "I definitely think that a head coach is the first step to it but it's definitely not the only step. I think we need to work on our quarterback. I love Tyrod, but you know, we need to work on our quarterback and work on everything as a whole. I definitely think we're taking the right steps towards a playoff position."
