Scholar Athlete of the Week (2/21): Damien Mousso

February 21, 2017 07:14 PM

Damien Mousso spent much of his time in high school helping his team -- both on and off the field.

This fall, he helped Greece Athena win the school's first Sectional title in 35 years.

"I know the boys wanted it so much," he says. "I was so glad we could win it for the school and everybody."

Damien did the dirty work to help the Trojans defense. He's the school record holder for most tackles in a game, most tackles in a season and most career tackles.

He wants to play football in college, and that's where the helping continues. Damien would like to study veterinary science.

"I like the hands on work, love working with animals and I want to work in the medical field so it combines those things."

And he also helps his fellow students. In his spare time, Damien is a math tutor at school.

"It feels good," he says. "I've been there too, where you can't understand a course, what goes around comes around. I like to help others because I've been in that position too."

He's Damien Mousso, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week presented by Monroe Community College and Five Star Bank.
