Rochester Americans play floor hockey against kids from Holy Childhood

The Rochester Americans will not play a game at Blue Cross Arena for more than a week, but that's not to say that the Amerks don't have a game here in Rochester in that time.

Tuesday, the team played in what is quite possibly their most important game of the season. They faced a group from Holy Childhood in floor hockey.

This is actually the fifth year that the Amerks have played Holy Childhood, and there are no days off for the team in red. They brought their "A" game, and put a few in the net against the Amerks.

"It's great whenever you can give back and see the smiles on these kids faces, just to spend an hour or half hour playing hockey, it's fun to give back and have a little bit of fun here," says Amerks forward Nick Baptiste.

It sounds like the Amerks actually got a pretty good game out of the group from Holy Childhood.

"We walked in and saw full goalie equipment, so we know they're ready to play and we're going to have some fun," Amerks forward Cole Schneider said.

"We wait for this every year," said Ramon Becker of Holy Childhood. "We really look forward to the Amerks coming."

The Amerks play on the road at the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this Friday at 7 p.m.
