This time of year is often busy for high school seniors, but Kendall's Lyndsay Wright is running towards a school record.
"It's harder to keep up with things when I'm not busy all the time," she said. "Sports help me with my grades for sure."
Wright, a senior, is currently in the heart of track season. This is her sixth year on the varsity team.
"Running is kind of boring, so when I have hurdle, it keeps me entertained," she said. "It's one of the harder races, so it helps me push myself."
Wright's competitive nature has carried her far in track. Right now, she's just 3 seconds off the school record in the 400 hurdles. Wright's undecided on continuing her athletic career in college. She does plan on studying occupational therapy at Keuka College in the fall.
"I fell in love with it," she said. "I wanted to pursue that. There's just so many places I can go from it. I can work in a school, in a hospital, I could travel, work older, work younger and that intrigued me."
We congratulate Lyndsay Wright as the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week, presented by Nixon Peabody and the Ide Family of Dealerships.
