It's safe to say that Megan Ross is on point.

The Fairport senior is a multiple time Junior Olympian and competed in the U.S. Fencing Nationals.

"I like fencing because it's a mental sport, each competition is an individual match between you and your opponent, so you have to pay attention to what you're doing but you have to adapt and react to what your opponent is doing too," says Megan.

Megan attacks her school work as quickly as her competition in a bout. She's a member of the National Honor Society, takes mostly AP courses and wants to study biomedical engineering in college.

"I really like solving problems, and that's fencing too," she says. "You have to think it through and plan ahead and be able to execute in a very practical way and that's the same as engineering. You have to take abstract problems and apply biology and math and physics to solve real world problems."

When she's not studying to keep her grade point average high, or scoring points against her opponent, Megan also does tap and Irish dance.

She's Megan Ross, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week, presented by Monroe Community College and Five Star Bank.
