Scholar Athlete of the Week 11/6: Shane Sweeney

Geneva High School senior Shane Sweeney is the kind of student any teacher would want to have in class.
Shane Sweeney, Geneva Scholar Athlete, said, “I've always had fun in school and I had fun learning new things. It's fun.”
Sweeney carries a 90 average and likes math and history Watching his older sister succeed is his motivation. He hopes to purse a career in business and knows good grades don't always come easy.
Sweeney said, “Math I have to study, there's so many new equations I have to study hard for.”
What comes naturally, sports. Shane is a two sport athlete, a four year captain on the basketball team and a two year captain and quarterback of the football team.
Sweeney said, “My oldest cousin was quarterback for Midlakes. I enjoyed watching him as quarterback and wanted to follow from there.”
Shane led is team to the sectional semifinals.
Sweeney said, “It's awesome seeing the red zone getting closer and getting closer to winning. People look up to you when you perform. It's something I'm proud of.”
Shane hopes to continue to lead the way in college.
Sweeney said, “I'm excited and nervous they are two different levels you have to work way harder in college.”
