Scholar Athlete of the Week 2/26: Gabriela Hernandez

Greece Athena senior Gabriela Hernandez carries a 93 average and will have taken 7 AP's before she graduates.

Gabriela Hernandez, Greece Athena Scholar Athlete, said, “I like learning new things and challenging myself with AP classes. I like writing and history. I like to learn about different presidents and events that happened.”

Sports has also kept Gabriela "on track".  She is a three-sport athlete, four years on  on varsity indoor and outdoor track and cross country.

Hernandez said, “I like to win, I don't always win but it's about pushing myself and improving myself.”

She stresses injury prevention and is lead by example captain. She competes at numerous events and calls running her escape.

Hernandez said, “When I run, I forget about stress and things I have to do. I have 30 minutes or an hour and I run and relax.”

Gabriela is still making her final decisions about college. U of R and Geneseo top her list.

Hernandez said, “I'm pretty excited for college. I want to run track at the next level, on a different level I’m excited.”
