Chad Cassidy took over as Amerks interim head coach in February leading the team to the playoffs. After the season it was unclear if Cassidy would join Ron Rolston's staff in Buffalo or remain in Rochester. On Tuesday, GM Darcy Reiger announced the Sabers have hired Joe Sacco as an assistant and Cassidy will be back in Rochester.

Reiger would not commit to saying Cassidy will be the head coach of the Amerks, but all signs point towards that being the case.

Last season, the Amerks went 16-11-1 under Cassidy, losing to Toronto in the first round of the playoffs.

As for Sacco, he coached the Colorado Avalanche the past four seasons and was fired in April after a 16-25-7 record.
