Elyssa Mountain makes it a point to be a leader in every aspect of her life. The Fairport senior is a president, a captain and even a coach. That's led her to become News10NBC's Scholar Athlete of the Week.
Elyssa Mountain said, “I love keeping busy, I love working with people and meeting new people.”
Elyssa Mountain is a people person. The Fairport senior is constantly interacting with others, whether it is the tennis court, the track or the classroom. Elyssa has a 96 average, she's an AP scholar with honors and she was elected president of the National Honor Society.
Mountain said, “If I became president, I could become more involved and have a say in the projects we do.”
Peers also turn to Elyssa in athletics. A captain of the Fairport Red Raiders Tennis Team, Elyssa feeds off her teammates enthusiasm.
Mountain said, “I love inspiring everyone on the team. They give me so much motivation. They help me out so much. I want to help them out in return.”
Elyssa is always putting others before herself, maybe the best example is during the spring, after three years of running track, Elyssa gave up competing to become an assistant of the modified team.
Mountain said, “It's a lot of fun I think they enjoy coaches close to their age and we can share experiences with them. It's a different relationship.”
Elyssa's top college choices are University of Buffalo and Penn State.
News10NBC's Scholar Athlete of the Week is sponsored by MCC and Wendy's Restaurants.
