It's been a long off season for the University of Rochester Men's Basketball Team. The YellowJackets had high aspirations last season, but that came to a crashing end.

A tenth of a second was all it took for the University of Rochester to go from national championship contenders to a second round exit against Ithaca. At one point, the YellowJackets were the top ranked team in the country with one of the greatest Division III players. All of that gone including that gut wrenching feeling after the loss. A new season begins Friday.

A buzzer beating defeat when a national championship was a distinct possibility. With that came the end of All-American John DiBartolomeo's career, one of the greatest to ever wear a University of Rochester jersey.

DiBartolomeo is now thriving in professional basketball overseas. His replacement at point guard is Kevin Sheehey. The junior has the task of leading the YellowJackets back into the national spotlight.

Sheehey will run an offense with good size, which includes McQuaid alum Tyler Sankes. With the new style comes uncertainty and optimism.

The YellowJackets are looking forward, but head coach Luke Flockerzi is using the past to prepare his team for another national championship run. The YellowJackets open the season against Oneonta State Friday night at the Palestra. Tip off is 8:00 p.m.
