(March 29, 2014)… The Rochester Knighthawks’ fourth-quarter rally fell short tonight at The Blue Cross Arena in a 15-11 loss to the Edmonton Rush (12-0).

The Knighthawks still clinched a playoff spot following the Minnesota Swarm's loss to the Calgary Roughnecks. Rochester remains atop the East Division with a 9-4 record, pending the outcome of the Buffalo Bandits’ game in Vancouver.

The Knighthawks showed a lot of grit, rallying twice in the first-place showdown. Rochester mounted its first comeback in the second, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of the quarter to tie the game at four.

Cody Jamieson, who finished the game with two goals and three assists, scored as he broke to the middle to make it 4-2 just 23 seconds into the second. Then 29 seconds later, Craig Point took a behind-the-back pass from Dan Dawson and beat Edmonton goalie Aaron Bold to bring Rochester within one. Jamieson picked up an assist on the tally to notch his 300th career point. Cory Vitarelli evened the score at four off a long outlet pass from Scott Self.

The Rush answered with five straight goals, but Point scored his second of the contest with four seconds to play in the half. Point, who made it 9-5, finished the game with four points to give him nine in the last two games.

Rochester continued to fight back, scoring the first four goals of the fourth quarter to get to within three at 14-11. Mike Kirk got things started with his first of the season off a bounce shot. Johnny Powless then fired a shot past Bold 36 seconds later and Rochester pulled closer at 14-9. After Dawson finished a great dive to the cage, Powless roofed a shot to cut the Edmonton lead to three. The goal by Dawson was part of a team-high six points (1+5) for the Rochester forward.

Former Knighthawk Jarrett Davis added a late goal to complete the road win. Bold picked up the win with 27 saves, while Mark Matthews and Curtis Knight led the way with two-goal, four-assist efforts. Edmonton won for the 12th straight time to tie the Knighthawks’ 2007 National Lacrosse League regular season record.

Rochester will return to action by playing the Minnesota Swarm on back-to-back nights. The Knighthawks will begin the two-game set on Friday, April 4th, traveling to the Xcel Energy Center for an 8:30 p.m. game. The following night, Rochester returns home to host the Swarm at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
