Jim Kelly takes the next step in his battle with oral cancer. On Monday, Kelly begins his seven week radiation treatment. This weekend, he spoke on camera before checking back into his New York City hospital.
On Monday, Kelly received his first dose of radiation, which he will continue for five days a week over the next seven weeks. On Wednesday, Kelly’s first of three rounds of chemotherapy will be administered.
None of this stopped him from enjoying the weekend with his family. Even in excruciating pain Jim took his wife, Jill, and their daughter Erin to Friday’s Knicks game.
Kelly spoke to WGRZ in Buffalo's Scott Levin about the pain and his will to keep fighting.
Jim Kelly said, “When it affects the brain and the nerves in your face I don’t want to sit here and complain. There are so many people that have their own problems. It's tough for me to deal with. I’m going to fight through it for my family for everybody that has been through cancer that hasn't survived.”
