The Red Wings dominance over the Scranton/WB RailRiders continued Tuesday night as the Wings used a vintage game from Chris Colabello to beat the RailRiders, 7-5 – their seventh win in eight games over the Yankees Triple-A affiliate this season.

Dating back to the 2013 season, Rochester has now won 10 of their last 11 games against their IL North rival.

Colabello went 2-for-5 with a home run, double and two RBI as he helped the Wings snap their three-game losing streak.

Eric Farris, back in the leadoff spot for manager Gene Glynn, helped set the table for Colabello collecting three hits and two RBI.

Logan Darnell earned the win despite walking a tied for career-high five for the second time in three starts. Darnell worked five innings allowing three runs on three hits to pick up his third win of the season.

The Wings (43-36) fell behind early for a fifth consecutive game on Tuesday. Before Darnell had even recorded an out, it was 2-0 RailRiders, as two walks to the first two hitters of the game came around to score on a J.R. Murphy two-run double.

But the Red Wings wasted no time in responding as they mounted a two-out rally in the second. With runners on second and third, Chris Rahl hit a comebacker to the mound that Scranton starter Bruce Billings mishandled allowing Chris Herrmann, who walked with one out in the inning, to come around with the Wings’ first run.

Farris then gave the Red Wings the lead for good ripping two-run single to center.

Colabello’s mammoth solo home run an inning later – his third as a Red Wing -- gave Rochester the 4-2 lead and a sacrifice fly from Doug Bernier three hitters later gave the Wings a three-run cushion.

After a Murphy solo homer in the fifth brought the RailRiders within a run, Colabello gave the Wings their three-run lead back with a two-out double to the gap in right center scoring Farris from second.

Things got interesting in the bottom half of the seventh as Jose Pirela’s two-run homer off Wings reliever Ryan Pressly brought Scranton within a run at 6-5. After Pressly walked the next hitter, he promptly struck out the next three to keep the Wings in front.

Pressly then worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning before giving way to Michael Tonkin, who tossed a perfect ninth to earn his team-leading fifth save of the season.

The Wings seek the two-game series sweep on Wednesday when they send southpaw Kris Johnson (6-3, 2.72) to the hill. First pitch from PNC Field is set for 7:05 p.m.

WINGS THINGS: Over his last four starts, Logan Darnell has issued 17 walks in 20 2/3 innings…Darnell yielded a solo home run in the 5th inning – the 20th the Red Wings starting rotation has allowed in 25 June games. The starters had allowed just 13 long balls over the first two months of the season…The Wings recorded five doubles giving them 38 over their last 15 games. Rochester now leads the IL with 154 doubles on the season.
