Thursday morning, we heard from Jim Kelly for the first time since initial tests show he’s cancer free. The former Buffalo Bills quarterback spoke to ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in a live interview today.

Kelly underwent a cancer scan on Tuesday in New York City. The Bills Hall of Famer underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatment there for sinus cancer. Kelly says the recurring cancer was moving closer to his brain before treatment which had doctors concerned.

In an interview today, Kelly says he's been able to recover in part because of the well wishes and support he's received from family, friends and fans. “I thank God everyday that I have friends and family like you guys and so many people across the country that have been praying for me. I’m not out of the woods yet, but I’ll tell you what, it's a big step in the right direction.”

Kelly still has to undergo biopsies next week to make sure he's cancer free.
