He’s had the privilege of working at more than a half dozen television stations across the Eastern US.  Jeremy has deep forecasting experience from the Southern Plains of Texas, Central Plains in Kansas, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the Ohio Valley. More recently, in April 2016, Jeremy was awarded BEST WEATHER ANCHOR by the Kentucky Associated Press.

He’s been fascinated with it since he was a little child.  In fact, a traumatic event in his family’s history played a role in his drive to master the science of Meteorology.  Just prior to his birth, the homes of his parents and grandparents were destroyed by tornados. Thankfully everyone escaped safely, but the event and the stories that came out of it had a great influence on Jeremy’s career aspirations.

Jeremy is a Purdue University graduate with a degree in Meteorology, is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, holds his AMS seal and is a member of the American Meteorological Society.

Jeremy’s passion for weather is infectious. He feels privileged to be able to make a difference in the lives of others especially during times of severe weather.

For fun Jeremy loves sports of all kinds. He also has a passion for cooking. Barbeque is his favorite, so it’s a good thing he also likes to jog in his spare time.

Jeremy would love to hear from you! You can contact him at jkappell@whec.com.
