ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Legislature has passed local legislation giving volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers a 10% real property tax exemption.

This bill was adopted with bipartisan support to recognize the service of these first responders.

Volunteers who have been part of an organization for two years qualify.

A similar law was first passed at the state level, allowing Monroe County to enact a local law.

The legislation has been sent to County Executive Adam Bello for final approval.
