ROCHESTER, N.Y. — If these walls could talk, they’d surely do so in an Irish brogue.

McGinnity’s Restaurant & Party House is closing Wednesday.

Bridie McGinnity and her late husband Seamus, an Irish immigrant, started the place. After Seamus died, Bridie, with the help of her children, kept it going.

After 48 years in business, the family behind the beloved bar has decided it’s time to walk away.

Naturally, McGinnity’s was popular on St. Patrick’s Day parade days and March 17, and other nights when Irish dancers and musicians performed. Irish culture was just as much on tap as the beer.

But it was also a place to enjoy a fish fry, celebrate Eastman Kodak Co. retirements, and mourn the passing of a friend.

McGinnity’s opened in September 1975.

It’s unclear what will happen with the property.
