Update on 44-foot-houseboat that sunk in Webster

Update: According to the Coast Guard, two people were on board at the time, and both were wearing life jackets. When the Coast Guard arrived, the 44-foot houseboat was almost completely under water. The two people on board were taken back to shore with no medical complications. The Rochester Fire Department was also there to assist.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 44-foot-houseboat sunk in Lake Ontario offshore of Webster Park on Friday evening, said the U.S. Coast Guard of the Great Lakes.

The Coast Guard rescued the two people on the boat and no one was injured. Both were wearing flotation devices when the boat sunk.

After responding to calls for the sinking boat, the Coast Guard’s Rochester Station launched an auxiliary boat.
