3 facing charges for illegal handgun possession

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Rochester Police have arrested three people for possessing illegal handguns.

The investigation dates back to January 24 on Baycliff Drive. Police responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations just before 5 p.m. When they got on scene they found evidence of shots fired and heard from several victims claiming they were targeted.

Wednesday, RPD SWAT executed a search warrant on the 1500 block of St. Paul St. and arrested 20-year-old Zahria Benjamin and recovered three illegal handguns. Benjamin is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon (2nd) and Reckless Endangerment (1st) for the January 24 incident. She’s also charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

Two others, 24-year-old Takir Johnson and 27-year-old Nicole Martinez, are also charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, relating to the search of the St. Paul St. apartment.
