8 Rochester-area districts getting money for universal prekindergarten programs

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Several districts in the Greater Rochester area are getting money to expand their universal prekindergarten programs.
The money is from the New York State Education Department (NYSED). NYSED is giving $13.36 million to 31 school districts across the state with the aim of making prekindergarten more available to four-year-olds.
The grants still need to be reviewed and approved by the Office of the State Comptroller, but the local awards are as follows:
- Greece Central School District $360,000
- Rush-Henrietta Central School District $ 1 million
- Seneca Falls Central School District $360,000
- Sodus Central School District $180,000
- Victor Central School District $400,000
- Warsaw Central School District $540,000
- Waterloo Central School District $360,000
- Wayland-Cohocton Central School District $160,000
