Another Saturday protest planned over leaked Supreme Court draft decision

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There’s another demonstration in Rochester planned over the leaked Supreme Court draft decision that suggests the justices will effectively overturn the Roe v. Wade decision, allowing individual states to make laws about abortion.

A march is planned for Saturday, May 14 in Washington Square Park that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Speakers will start the event at 12:30 p.m.

It’s hosted by more than a dozen local organizations, including Citizen Action of NY, the Alliance for Quality Education and Rochester NOW.

More information on the event is available here.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul earlier this week directed $50 million to the Department of Health so that it can give grants to abortion providers and nonprofits that assist people in accessing abortions.

The Supreme Court is expected to render its official decision on Roe v. Wade in late June or early July.
