ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – First responders from Webster and other towns across Monroe County welcomed athletes of all abilities to play ball on Saturday. Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester held its "Heroes Day" today. It provides people with developmental, physical, or intellectual disabilities a barrier-free, safe and accessible place to experience the joy of playing team sports.

"The kids and their families that don’t always have the chance with challenges they have, day in and day out, this gives them the opportunity to play sports like everybody else," said Ron Kampff of Rochester Challenger Miracle Field.

Games were held all morning with law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders to support the challenger baseball players.
