ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Superintendent of Rochester schools is on her way out.

In an email to staff, the school board said it’s working on a separation agreement with Dr. Lesli Myers-Small right now.

The email to staff reads:

Dear RCSD Staff,

I am writing to inform you that last evening the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small began the process of a separation agreement. It was my desire to share this news once we had settled on the specifics of the agreement. Sadly, this news was prematurely shared in an article in the Democrat and Chronicle this morning.

I want to assure you that a seamless transition is one of our top priorities, as we are preparing to open schools in just over a month.

I ask that you remain focused on the important work of serving our students. I will share more information with you, as we are able.

Thank you.

Cynthia Elliott
Board of Education President

That email by school board president Cynthia Elliot was sent at 3:35 Wednesday afternoon.

This means Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small will be gone halfway through her four-year contract. It also means the city school district has had 8 superintendents—including interim ones—in the last 12 years.

The superintendent’s spokeswomen told News10NBC they’re not commenting at this time.
