Brighton CSD announces it will soon have COVID-19 ‘test to stay’ program

BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Brighton Central School District said it will soon have some kind of "test to stay" program for students who have to quarantine because they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Last week, the New York State Department of Health updated its guidance, allowing county health departments to use tests to stay if they choose.

Students would have to test negative for at least seven days after the initial exposure.

Another option is for students to test out of quarantine after seven days if their symptoms are gone.

Brighton said its COVID-19 case numbers have gone up slightly, but there’s no need to panic. Thirteen students in the whole district have tested positive for the virus, the majority of whom are younger children.
