Brooklyn man accused of hacking Wegmans accounts
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Brooklyn man is charged with hacking into the online accounts of many Wegmans customers.
Maurice Sheftall is charged with fraud.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the 23-year-old stole logins and passwords in an attempt to access 74 different customer accounts and successfully accessed 59 of them.
He’s alleged to have then made 25 fraudulent orders of groceries and other goods totaling about $10,000.
Sheftall appeared before a judge and was released on conditions.
