Case against Brighton man charged in 1982 axe killing of his wife will go to trial in 2022

BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WHEC) —The case of the Brighton man accused of killing his wife with an axe decades ago, will now go to trial.

The court Thursday denied a motion to dismiss a hearing and Grand Jury motions for James Krauseneck, who is charged with killing his wife Cathleen inside their Del Rio Drive home back in 1982.

Krauseneck was arrested in November 2019 in connection with the case. Investigators say fresh DNA and forensic analysis that did not exist back then helped connect him to the crime.

Krauseneck maintains he was at work at Eastman Kodak when the murder happened. His defense has claimed a confessed killer who died in 2014 was responsible,

The trial is set for Aug 29, 2022.
