Convicted sex offender charged with killing man on Resolute Circle

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police have made an arrest in a killing that happened Monday morning.

They say Evan Guzman, 36, stabbed 52-year-old Ted Morris, Sr. multiple times at Morris’ apartment at 40 Resolute Circle, near Irondequoit.

Guzman, who is from Rochester, was released from prison in April of this year for failing to register as a sex offender, and assaulting a prison guard.

He is a Level 2 sex offender for a crime involving a child under the age of 13.

He has a total of three prior felony convictions, as well as three prior misdemeanor convictions.

Police say it was around 5 a.m. Monday that Guzman knocked on Morris’ apartment door.

As soon as Morris opened the door, police say Guzman stabbed him several times and then ran off on foot.

Police say it is believed Guzman and Morris know each other.

So far, police have not released a motive for the crime.

Guzman is charged with second-degree murder and will be arraigned in Rochester City Court Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
