ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — COVID-19 is no longer designated as an "airbourne infectious disease that presents a serious risk to harm of the public health" under the HERO Act.

It was designated one back on Sept. 6, 2021.

That means New York private sector employers no longer need to follow the pandemic workforce safety plans that the law required them to create and implement.

That includes daily health screenings and other precautions.

New York State said the screenings are still recommended.
