DEC funding local climate projects

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Some local climate projects are getting some funds from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The City of Rochester is getting $225,763 to design shade shelters at Cobbs Hill, Genesee Valley, and Maplewood Parks and $40,000 for an organics management plan that will provide a “comprehensive approach” to collaboratively reducing food waste and recycling organics.

Monroe County will be getting $97,820 to develop a climate action plan that will establish greenhouse gas reduction targets using “data-driven strategies”.
